Carry On…

Theatre Performance – “Lotos” Day Centre

17 October
20:30

The performance “Carry On…” was created within the therapeutic and creative process of the Artistic Expression Group at the “Lotos” Day Centre. The material for the performance gradually took shape through original texts, personal creations, and material developed by the group members themselves, and is brought to the stage through words, movement, music, and imagery.

Two voices. The Mind and the Soul. One shared body.

The performance unfolds as a journey through the mind, the soul, and the body. A journey in which the body remembers, the mind struggles to understand, and the soul searches for a space of its own. On stage, the Mind and the Soul meet within the same body. They clash, enter into dialogue, search for one another, and try to find a way to coexist.

A performance that turns its gaze towards the human being and our capacity for creativity, while opening up a space for raising awareness and challenging the stigma surrounding mental illness.

The “Lotos” Day Centre of the Greek Centre for Intercultural Psychiatry and Care “Kostis Ballas” is a psychosocial rehabilitation service dedicated to promoting mental health and supporting the recovery of people living with chronic mental illness.

Maria Morou

Actress – Dramatherapist

Maria Morou is an actress and dramatherapist. She studied Acting at the Fotiadi Higher School of Dramatic Art and has been working in theatre since 2008. Alongside her work in theatre, she works with groups in the field of mental health. It was there that theatre began to take on a different dimension for her. It was no longer simply a means of expression and creativity, but a space for meaningful human connection. Through this process, she began to recognise the therapeutic power of art and, through it, to discover aspects of herself.

This path led her to Dramatherapy: a field in which everything that had already accompanied her — theatre, the body, movement, and creativity — could come together and take on new meaning. She trained in Dramatherapy, with an emphasis on Jungian and psychodynamic approaches, and today works and teaches in the field of Dramatherapy.

Her engagement with yoga and body-based practice has also become an integral part of this path. She trained in Vinyasa Yoga, further deepening her relationship with the body and movement.

Today, her work lies at the intersection of theatre, the therapeutic process, and embodied expression.
