For Henri Bergson, durée (duration) is the lived, continuous and qualitative flow of time in consciousness, as opposed to the divisible, mathematical and quantitative time of clocks.

This year’s call focuses on time: how we think about it, how we sense it, how we use it. Our starting points are Bergson’s lived rather than measured time and Elizabeth Freeman’s critique of chrononormativity. Alongside them are the many kinds of time that resist a linear understanding of it: queer time, crip time, slow time, movements such as Afrofuturism, and practices such as temporal drag.

The 14th International Dance and Performing Arts Festival Akropoditi DanceFest 2027 approaches time as a material to be recomposed: it takes time apart, rebuilds it and offers it back as a new experience.

We are interested in time that resists the dominant time of power, society and production, not only as a theme but as a way of living. We are interested in how, in art, stage time can be used so that the artists and the audience of a performance experience time differently, and together.

We invite works that propose a different experience of time for audiences and performers alike.

Because we wish to focus not on the measurable time of each work but on its essential time, this year the duration of proposed works is open, with no minimum or maximum length.
