Breaking the mould

2nd WEEK (19-23/7) – 2 HOURS/DAY
16:30 – 18:30, “DE LA SALLE” SCHOOLS (ANDREA KARGA 12 – 14)

Breaking the mould

The workshop begins with a series of improvisation instructions to warm up the body and mind, to connect us with the space and others within the group and to allow for personal elements and detail to surface. The mechanisms and functions discovered will later be used in short exercises and phrases which gradually build into bigger blocks of given material. Using the final material, we’ll attempt to find again the joy and freedom of improvisation within the structure, while at the same time try to challenge the boundaries of the “mould”.

Ages: All ages
Levels:  People with previous experience in contemporary dance and improvisation

Aris is very keen in the notion of landscape as a cultural construction and juxtaposition of both man-made and natural environments, therefore seeing it as a heavily charged field of potentiality for action, exploration, playfulness and composition, and is distilling that into his own experimentations through visuals and movement. He is an Onassis AiR – Critical Practices International Residency Program recipient (2020).
