Dance and Interactive technologies – open studio day

The Interactive Systems Design Lab of the Department of Product and Systems Design Engineering at the University of the Aegean, in collaboration with the International Dance and Performing Arts Festival Akropoditi DanceFest, is organizing an open studio day focusing on interactive technologies applied in the field of dance.
Using the lab’s equipment, we will be able to discover digital models of historical landmarks in Syros and move inside their space without leaving the lab, exploring the possibilities of remote digital site-specific performances. At the same time, as part of the department’s research program IMAGINE-MOCAP, we will experiment with personality traits of digital characters and the ways these traits can be expressed and transferred into the digital world through movement and dance.
Participants will have the opportunity to engage with some of the most advanced motion capture and digitization systems, such as the Rokoko suits and the Vicon optical system, as well as immerse themselves in digital worlds using mixed reality systems, such as the Meta Quest and Microsoft HoloLens headsets.
The workshop is designed and lead by members of the Akropoditi Dance and Performing Arts Centre team, in collaboration with researchers from the Interactive Systems Design Lab.

Ages: 18+
Level: Participation is open to dancers, performers, and individuals with experience in movement.
