Boogie Woogie – Maria Syneli and Nikos Kopsidas
Introduction to Boogie Woogie
Boogie Woogie is an impressive dance within the swing family and represents the European evolution of the American rock ‘n’ roll from the 50s, which evolved from the Lindy Hop. It is characterized by its fast pace, energetic music, improvisation, interaction with the partner, and playful disposition. Our goal through the lessons is primarily to convey the joy of this dance, exploring the groove and connection with the music and our dance partner. As Boogie Woogie is a partner dance, you should choose a role (lead/follow), which it would be good to maintain throughout the workshop.
Bring comfortable shoes! Trainers, sneakers or in general shoes that you can move freely in.
Don’t come in flip flops/sandals, boots, high heels etc.

Maria Syneli and Nikos Kopsidas
Maria and Nikos started dancing Boogie in ’13 and ’16, respectively, both after chance visits to social parties. Quickly, what began as a simple hobby transformed into a way of life. Through their dance home, Blue Fox, and the Rollin Foxes team, they evolved and continue to develop through participation in festivals and workshops with top dancers in the genre. They are also engaged in other swing dances such as Lindy Hop, Authentic Jazz, and Blues. Their collaboration began in 2022 with the realization of a Slow Boogie workshop and continues with participation in competitions, as well as teaching in a beginners’ class.
