Inclusive dance – Adrienn Hód & Károly Tóth

Inclusive Vibe
Inclusive dance masterclass

An inclusive dance masterclass open to both disabled and non-disabled dancers, professional or amateur.
In this masterclass, we will explore improvisational practices and focuses drawn from the pieces “Harmonia”, “Idol”, and “Charlie”, together with performer Károly Tóth. We will bring our attention to our own bodies and sensations, connecting with space, time, dynamics, and with one another.
How does the relationship with others and space change when we create an inclusive space? How does self-perception and dance change in a space of shared attention? How is dance structured in the space?
In the first part of the masterclass, we will prepare ourselves to improvise and work with the space together, composing together. Through guided body awareness exercises we will make observations on the structure and function of our three-dimensional bodies. Body boundary (skin), external and internal space, mass, weight, directions and distance in relation to others and space. Through body awareness work we experience our unique movement, agency in three dimensional space and in relation to others.
In the second part of the masterclass we will have the opportunity for small group, pair, individual composition work led by Adrienn Hód.

Ages: 14+
Levels: All

Adrienn Hód

Adrienn Hód is an internationally recognized choreographer whose work spans contemporary dance, experimental movement, and applied choreography for theatre, film, and commercial projects. Since founding HODWORKS in 2007, she has served as the company’s artistic and production director, while also collaborating widely with Hungarian and international artists. She regularly teaches workshops, focusing on improvisational tools often connected to HODWORKS’ creative processes.
Hód’s artistic approach centers on the human body in motion, stripped of cultural expectations, taboos, and fixed meanings. In the studio, she fosters sensitive, trust-based environments where dancers, musicians, and collaborators contribute their personal experiences and creative responses. Her pieces sit at the crossroads of dance, theatre, and performance: although rooted in extensive improvisation, they are ultimately presented in rigorously structured forms.
Her work challenges clichés, expands stage-audience relations, and foregrounds raw physicality — often through minimal or naked bodies — supported by precise sound and light design. Hód continually pushes the boundaries of contemporary dance, exploring radical personal expression and multilayered identities.
