LECTURE: body/word – Christos Polymenakos
body/word – Performance Writing: creation, research, education, by, with, for the community? A discussion.
In this lecture-discussion, examples of applications of Christos Polymenakos’ body/word method in creation, research and education from 2010 until today are shared and an investigation of its utilization by, with, for different communities takes place.
body/word springs from Performance Writing as practiced in Dartington College of Arts, an academic institution known for its pioneering approach on artistic education in constant dialogue with other social, scientific and artistic fields.
Tools and principles of the method have been employed in creative, research and educational projects in Greece, the United Kingdom, Cyprus, Slovenia, Finland and online, for ages 11-88. These projects we realized by state and private institutions, universities and workshops, scientific conferences and publications, 1-1 collaborations, informal and ephemeral communities.
