Title of the project: “POLYRHYTMIA”
Italy – Greece

POLYRITMIA
Open rehearsal after the first week of residency
An inquiry into the dialogue between music and the moving body

Ideation: Francesca Pedullà and Lorenzo Gasperoni
Choreography: Francesca Pedullà and Kostantinos Katsamakis
Music: Lorenzo Gasperoni

POLYRITMIA springs from the desire to merge the inherent wisdom of tradition and the latest studies in somatic practice, anatomy and biomechanics with traditional percussions and modern techniques of electronic music, in the belief that ancient and current performative practices can communicate with and enrich each other.
Music, auditory by nature, is heard and can exist in itself.
In concert with dancers, music becomes integrated with the visible. It can counteract internal
sensations or vibrate with them, negating or enhancing their effect. It can mirror physical movements more or less explicitly. Together, music and movement create a metamorphic language, which becomes an element in the relationship, assuming the role of third performer. The apparent tension or conflict between analogue and digital music opens prospects and horizons.

Lorenzo Gasperoni
He is graduated in 1989 in classical percussion in Conservatorio di Verona and Civica Scuola di Musica in Milan. The same year following his inclination towards being an “eternal student”, he started his trips to discover the ethnical rhythms, going several times to Guinea, Mali, Burkina Faso, Senegal, Benin, Southern India, Morocco, and to Cuba. Now Lorenzo is a well known composer and percussionist actually performing with several band such as Mamud Band, La Frontera, Artchipel Orchestra all over Europe. During his career he wrote music for important dance- theater shows. Fundamental aspect of his research is the relation with dance, to find a way to talk and play the same language of the body in movement. Lorenzo has been playing with prestigious world-renowned musician and dancer such as Lester Bowie, Fred Wesley, Brian Auger, Paco Sery, Famoudou Konate, Herns Duplan, Frey Faust, Mama Adama Camara, Francesca Pedullà
Evita Pitara & Cédric Gagneur (Greece – France-Switzerland)
Saturday 21st April 2018, at 20:30
Free entrance

116th Dream

“I am about t’ sketch You a picture of what goes on around here some- times. though I don’t understand too well myself what’s really happening. my poems are written in a rhythm of unpoetic distortion/ divided by pierced ears (…) with a melodic purring line of descriptive hollowness — seen at times through dark sunglasses an’ other forms of psychic explosion.”
Bob Dylan

Η πρόθεση αυτής της δημιουργίας είναι να μεταδώσει μ’ έναν χορό και μια πρωτότυπη μουσική τέσσερα κομμάτια του Bob Dylan: Motorpsycho Nightmare, Bob Dylan’s 115th dream, Subterranean Homesick Blues και Love Minus Zero/No Limit.

Choreography: Evita Pitara & Cédric Gagneur

Evita began ballet in a very young age and after graduating from the Central School of Ballet in London, she joined the Ballet Junior de Genève for two seasons. Cédric practiced Breakdancing for a few years and then joined the Ballet Junior at the same time. After the Ballet Junior, Evita dances in Geneva for Foofwa d’Immobilité, Perrine Valli, Cie Alias and in Athens for Giorgos Panteleakis. Meanwhile, Cédric entered the Bachelor in Contemporary Dance directed by Thomas Hauert at La Manufacture in Lausanne, continued to tour with the Cie Tenseï and created his first solo Labyrinthum. Over the last three years, Evita and Cédric have danced together in several projects, notably for the Festival Antigel and the Fête de la danse in Geneva. 116th dream is their first choreographic piece.

Anis Ouazzani & Ainara Lopez (Spain – France)
Saturday 10th March at 20:30
Free entrance

Moving Landscapes I
Dancing the elemental body: The body that measures the landscape, the body in intercourse with weather, the body kissing mass of peat, the body in love-death relation to the day…

The Moonwalk Lab is a itinerant dance research duo (or group) that works mainly outside the studio, in contact with nature.Through observing and meeting different landscapes and its elements, we collect images, sounds, stories and explore how to put them into motion.
The Moonwalk Lab is a work in progress project coming from the Moonwalk Experience, an itinerant dance laboratory in nature aimed at exploring the meeting between body and landscape.
Moonwalk is meant to become a danced reflection on the world and its natural, human-built, symbolic, energetic, psychological or legal borders. It is an opportunity to question, through the body, our way of perceiving, of relating to the earth, to nature, to human constructions, to the group.
During this last month we have travelled around the island of Syros diving into the local landscape, encountering people, words, sounds, stories, myths. In this occasion we have given ourselves a little challenge bringing our experiences into the studio and see what happens when we reconnect with the souvenirs of landscapes, with memory and oblivion.
We would like to share with you some of these images through a short performance and a projection on Saturday 10th, at 20.30h.

Anis Ouazzani and Ainara Lopez come from several backgrounds in dance and movement practices and are organizers of The Moonwalk Project, an itinerant dance project in nature within a moon cycle.
Maps have proven to be a versatile medium through which to express our inquisitive nature and make sense of our physical world. Whatever their purpose or subject matter, even the most rudimentary maps have an inherent beauty, an attraction in their way of ordering things. They mark the division between art and science, known and unknown, good and evil. Hoping to generate a deeply personal map, “An Imaginary Country” is an attempt to look at the metaphorical potential of cartography, allowing space for dreaming.

Eve Ganneau is a dancer, performer and choreographer from France, based in Cologne, Germany. She has been working as a professional dancer in different companies around Europe (Scottish Dance Theatre, Joan Cleville Dance, Orjan Andersson Dance, amongst other) Besides her practice as a dancer she started to develop her own works, collaborating with actors and dancers. She is undergoing a Feldenkrais education since November 2016 to become Feldenkrais practitioner.

Antonis Nikiforos is a sound artist living in Athens, Greece. He has been working for over 10 years between music festivals (Release Athens Festival, Rock Wave Festival, Sync Festival amongst others) and theatre productions (Amorphy, Meeting The Odyssey, amongst others) He is working in close collaboration with artists from different fields.
